Rebuild
All righty then. Time for a recap of my rebuild on the Fox F80X fork that is on the Giant XTC that I have for sale. It started out pretty good and I hit one small obstacle when I needed Fox FLOAT FLUID or 80wt full-synthetic gear oil for the air chamber. After locating that it was a smooth rebuild.
This is the reason that I rebuilt it in the first place. Messy, messy , messy. Leaking all over the place during a ride late last season and I decided to rebuild it. I contacted Enduro Fork Seals because of the great reputation I have heard about their seals and they were here within a couple of days.

Pre rebuild shot

Pre rebuild with the Enduro Seals

Enduro Fork Seals come with everything you will need except for the oil and tools.

It all starts with the removal of the threshold control knob.

Then I drained both fork legs of their used up oils. Be ready with a bucket because there is a lot. Of course Jeff had to taste the fluids.

Removal of the air spring from the left fork leg.

Pull the inertia valve out of the right fork leg. This assembly is the vast majority of the weight that this fork possesses.

Inertia valve set aside for later.

Pull the stanchions off and all you have left is the inner legs and crown.

Remove the old wipers and clean out the inside of the stanchions.

Install the new Enduro Seals...

...put in new crush washers and then fill with oil...

...and in just a few minutes, and quite a few millileters of fork oil, the fork is ready for some more fun.
Aside from the delay to find Fox FLUID this was not a bad project at all. The instructions that Enduro Fork Seals has on their website are absolutely fabulous and very easy to understand.

Ready to be sold.
Today was also laundry day for my cycling clothing. Yes the cycling clothes are on a seperate cleaning schedule than the regular clothing in my household. I noticed that I have a small hole in the side of my beloved "Swiss Nat'l Champ" jersey and that another jersey has a tear that is resulting in the right pocket beginning to seperate from the back of the jersey. Looks like it is time for a new wardrobe.
That's it for the rebuild,
-Peace.
