Gettin' that snappy feeling back

My knee that had the flesh removed is feeling and looking really good right outside of the fact that the bone on the right side is bruised. It only hurts if I twist just right so no real worries. Yesterday I rode up to Janesville and back just for the spin with no hills. 26.5 miles at a fairly comfy pace outside of working into the wind all the way home. There were sections that got pretty windy where there was no break created by the trees. Good ride overall.

Today I spent the morning at the shop hanging out with G-Ted. Today's conversation consisted mostly of past race stories and comparisons of the different courses that we have both raced on in the state of Minnesota. G-Ted has got some great stories about his racing days and his past shop stories are pretty rockin' too.

Off work at 2pm, went home to chill out before the group ride but couldn't relax for whatever reason. Started suiting up and remembered that my rear wheel needed a bit of care so it was a quick ride to the shop to put the spoke wrench to it and then rolled down to the group ride. Have not been there for about three weeks so everyone wants to know where I have been and such. It's always nice to be missed. :) Six other riders made their appearance tonight including R. Fry, J. Fry, Fox, Doug, Kisch, and Engstrom. Started rolling out of town to head north to Finchford and Janesville when Kisch asked me how I was feeling tonight. I was a bit surprised by this but said that I had enough for maybe a sprint or two. He said that was cool and we started to pick up the pace. I did not see the speedo go below 25mph all the way to Finchford. Heck, when we made the left turn to head to Finchford I decided to pull a page from the "Kerkove Diaries" and launched an attack. Kisch was the only one to go with me and we rode all the way to Finchford at around 30-32mph before letting up at the park. Engstrom then pulled up Three-Tier hill before Doug and J.Fry attacked towards the top. I felt good so I went with them too. We came to a full stop at the pothole infested bridge because it was closed which was a surprise to me. We all walked around the barriers like good little citizens and continued with our ride. Shortly there after Doug attacked and of course I went with him. I was no where near close to him by the sprint but J. Fry attacked right after that and I busted butt to pull Kisch back up to J. Fry and Kisch took the next sprint.

By the time we arrived in Janesvill, J. Fry and I were both off the back and cruising through town. We had to TT back to the group as they left Janesville but luckily Kisch sat up and waited for us and then pulled us back. Dude is crazy fast and has tons of energy. All hell broke lose as we headed south back to Waterloo though. The pace just kept going up until it was bouncing off the mid-30's. I launched one more attack and was away alone for what seemed like forever before Kisch caught up and then the two of us held off the group for a while before coming back into Waterloo.

Awesome ride which turned into intervals for me. Launch an attack, get shelled, catch up, launch an attack, repeat as needed. Totally had a good time. My legs feel really snappy right now and I am looking forward to the 24 Hours of Afton on the 25th and 26th. Speaking of which, I have still not received notification that they have received my entry fee. Hopefully I will get that tomorrow...waiting is making me nervous. I think that I hang out with Kerkove too much. Just kidding buddy!!!!

Easy spin tomorrow morning, weather permitting, and then working the afternoon/night shift at the shop.
