Two Nine

Many of you may already know that I have the pleasure of having G-Ted as a coworker and a good friend. It allows for us both to exchange ideas about different aspects of cycling such as trail work at Camp Ingawanis, different bikes that we work on or build, and of course the 26" wheeled mountain bike versus the 29" wheeled mountain bike. I have always ridden on 26" wheels during my off-road adventures with little problem so I have never seen a reason to switch to or even try a 29er as it were. G-Ted has drilled his beliefs into me in a very subtle manner and has gotten me to the point that I would really like to give it a try. G-Ted seems to be all-knowing when it comes to 29ers due to his incesant burn to acquire more knowledge about them all. Heck, he's even going to Interbike to get the low-down on the entire market for the 2007 season, talk about dedication to the cause. He learns the ins and outs of each and every model from each and every manufacturer and then interprets all of the data into useable knowledge for the rest of the world. Geared, single-speed, rigid, front-suspension,or full-suspension and G-Ted has the low-down. Which way does a person go with all of this? I am ready to dive in and get "dirty" with the 29" movement, just need to get a few things in line to get my first one. I say first one because G-Ted claims that 29ers will change me and all of my MTBs will become 29ers. Will this be true? Only time will tell since I already have my eye on one. ;)

Getting my paws on a Cannondale Caffeine 29er sure would be a sweet deal, especially since I am convinced that the Lefty is the greatest front suspension ever.

I think 29ers make sense for enduro rides, and especially more so if you're over 6ft (small ones look odd!), I've got a lot of friends with 29ers, who love them, I'm quite temped to have a go on one to evaluate it over the longer distance, I'm worried I'd like it and I'll have to make my bank manager cry ;)

The On One Scandal looks like a great package... it's got good reviews over here in the UK.
