Oh my...
...where have I been. Lots of things going on lately keeping me away from the computer and updates. Had a few more days away from work to get some other things done around the house as well as sitting around relaxing a bit. Spent New Years Eve with some friends hanging out, playing games, watching TV, and watching kids. No alcohol was consumed here.
Met up with Kerkove, G-Ted, Super Saul, Mr. Dean, and Adamson for a gravel grinder to Parkersburg in 30F temps. It was my first 50 mile ride in a long while and I was feeling it by the time I arrived at home. I believe the final tally was 53 miles in about 5 hours. I was bonking a couple of miles before we came back to Cedar Falss. Lucky for me G-Ted had brought some extra gel packs and he was kind enough to share. Thanks buddy!! Most of the gravel was pretty good, overall not too soft but there were definately some sections that were soupy. My Cannondale Rush 2000 is covered in dryed up gravel soup which turns into a dry concrete like finish on the bike. Should be a fun cleaning job. Have I mentioned how much I love my Cannondale Rush? Oh yeah, it makes me smile. We were into the wind all the way to Parkersburg and it felt like the wind died off a bit on the way back to Waterloo. Go figure. All-in-all a good start to the year.
Yesterday's ride left me with a bit of a head cold. I hate being congested. Back on the rollers tonight for some more spinning and saddle time. Less than twelve weeks until Ouachita, need to make sure I am firing on all cylinders by then. Everything is training...training is everything.
